Fake Damaging Traffic & Spam Bots Ruining Your Ad Revenue

#1
Hello Folks,
I was currently working on a flash portal of mines and transferred it across to wordpress with the myarcadeplugin extension and other extensions added to it as well for security. I always wondered how the website I had was gaining over 1k+ views yet tanking on the impressions vs clicks ratio which was impacting my eCPM rates on Adsense. I added a plugin called "Blackhole" which hides a link within the website itself and added a rule to the robots.txt not to follow, well after doing that over 100 IP addresses from random locations were smacking against this non-stop, still are at this point one by one but slower. I then took the time to re-review my revenue through Adsense and although as expected the impressions decreased the eCPM rates increased by 50% with better impression to clicks balanace ratio. I also seen that my website loads much faster, no bot spam comments and even when I reduced the amount of advertisements on the website (due to modernisation) I still got better results.

So the summery here is, make sure that the traffic you are getting is actually REAL traffic and not spoofed fake american / worldwide traffic, Adsense and Google Analytics might show you it's legit but in fact it's not legit, It was only until I cracked down on the bots that I seen a better revenue improvements.

If you don't have wordpress or myarcadeplugin you should try http://www.projecthoneypot.org/index.php does the same purpose.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Antz
